A National Lottery player from West Sussex has struck it lucky, winning a £1 million prize in the Lotto draw on February 22. The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball using a set of sentimental numbers.
After purchasing a new car, he revealed that he plans to enjoy life a little more, including indulging in exotic trips abroad.
The Lucky Win and Future Plans
The anonymous winner, known only as Mr. F, entered the draw via the National Lottery’s website and was stunned when his numbers came up.
Following his big win, he wasted no time in treating himself to a brand-new car and now plans to travel and experience more of the world.
Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, shared his excitement for the winner, saying:
“What wonderful news for Mr. F, who can now look forward to a lovely exotic holiday and driving around in his new car. Huge congratulations!”
Winners of the National Lottery have the option to remain fully anonymous, partially anonymous, or publicly reveal their identity after claiming their prize.
More Lucky Winners in the UK
Mr. F isn’t the only person recently celebrating a life-changing lottery win. Across the UK, several lucky players have hit the jackpot in different ways.
Shopkeeper Wins and Gives Back to the Community
Last week, Ranmal Punja Odera, a shopkeeper at Smokers Paradise newsagents in Billericay, won a lottery prize in Allwyn’s quarterly draw. Unlike standard lottery draws, this competition rewards National Lottery retailers for boosting ticket sales.
Rather than keeping the money to herself, Odera decided to use her winnings to treat elderly customers to afternoon tea, adding to her long-standing tradition of generosity, as she often takes her customers out for brunch and dinner.
Father-of-Four Becomes a Millionaire After Buying a Scratchcard
Another lucky winner, Craig Haggie, a 36-year-old father-of-four from Cornwall, won a seven-figure sum in a rather unexpected way.
While stopping for a burger at a takeaway, he decided to pop into a Spar on Fore Street in Callington to buy a drink and two scratchcards. To his shock, one of them turned out to be worth millions!
Describing the chaotic moment he realized he had won, Haggie said:
“It was absolute pandemonium, my family were jumping around the office screaming – while my first thought was: ‘Where’s the safest place to keep the scratchcard?’”
Worried about losing his winning ticket, he and his brother taped it to his body for safekeeping:
“My brother and I decided I should keep it close, literally, so we put the ticket in a plastic bag and taped it to my body. We must have looked crazy as he held the roll of tape, and I twirled around to make sure it was stuck securely.”
However, this unusual storage method didn’t last long:
“I quickly got very sweaty, and it wasn’t staying stuck to me – so we settled on keeping it in a saucepan on the top of a kitchen cabinet instead. You clearly don’t think straight when you find out you’re a millionaire.”
These incredible stories prove that luck can strike when you least expect it. Whether playing with sentimental numbers, buying a scratchcard on a whim, or even entering a special retailer draw, there are plenty of ways to win big with the National Lottery.
