A family in Ruislip, West London, has been left devastated after armed burglars broke into their home, stole £20,000 worth of valuables, and took their pet dog, Ozzie. The terrifying attack has left nurse Sashi Shutt, 40, suffering from severe trauma, forcing the family to relocate for their safety.
Horrifying Home Invasion in West London
The incident took place last month when Sashi Shutt, wife of RAF officer Jason Shutt, unexpectedly returned home after forgetting a bag. What she thought was a routine visit quickly turned into a nightmare.
Upon entering the house, she noticed that the front door and windows were open but assumed her husband had been home earlier and let their dog out. However, as she moved further inside, she heard footsteps and rumbling.
Realizing something was wrong, she grabbed a pair of tuff scissors for protection and walked toward the dining room. That’s when she encountered the intruders—armed with a machete.
“They told me not to move and had a machete around my neck,” she recalled in an interview with GB News.
The burglars continued ransacking the house, taking expensive items and the family’s pet pug, Ozzie, before fleeing the scene.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
After the terrifying ordeal, Sashi managed to call 999, and officers arrived within three to four minutes.
The Metropolitan Police issued a statement, confirming that detectives from the West Area’s Burglary and Robbery Team have been investigating the case. However, no arrests have been made so far.
“An image of the family’s dog, that appeared to go missing during the incident, has been circulated to Met officers in an effort to help locate it.”
Authorities continue to appeal for information that could help solve the case.
A Family Struggling to Cope with the Trauma
The attack has left deep emotional scars on the family, especially Sashi, who now suffers from panic attacks, insomnia, and anxiety.
“Since the attack happened, I haven’t slept. I am on sleeping tablets and medication through the day to calm me. I wake up in the night having nightmares.”
Due to the emotional toll and security concerns, the family has decided to relocate with the support of the military community.
“Due to all of this, we are relocating. I am moving tomorrow. The military has been supporting us.”
A Desperate Plea to Bring Ozzie Home
While the stolen valuables can be replaced, Ozzie’s disappearance has been the hardest loss for the family.
Sashi’s 13-year-old son, Harry, described Ozzie as more than just a pet.
“He was just like a teddy bear. So cuddly and kind, like a human. He was amazing.”
The pug, who has battled cancer and requires regular treatment, is easily identifiable due to a scar on his back leg. The family is now making a heartfelt plea for Ozzie’s safe return.
“I can accept losing material items, but losing Ozzie means so much more.”
What’s Next?
With no suspects in custody, the Metropolitan Police continue to urge the public for any information that might lead to an arrest or help find Ozzie.
This shocking burglary raises concerns about home security and violent crime in London. Many are now questioning whether more needs to be done to protect residents from such brazen attacks.
For now, the Shutt family is focused on rebuilding their lives, hoping that justice will be served and that Ozzie will be found safe.
